Oily Skin Type

Generally, skin can be classified into 4 categories: Normal Skin, Oily Skin, Dry Skin and Combination Skin.

So what exactly is oily skin type?

Oily skin is used to describe a skin type with large pores, glossy shine and heightened sebum production. An excessive production is known as seborrhea. Usually blackheads and whiteheads are formed because of the increased oil production that causes clogged pores and blockage.

Oily skin can be caused by medication, hormonal changes and imbalances, wrong choice of cosmetics, genetics reasons and high level of stress. One benefit of this skin type is that oily skin tends to maintain its youthfulness for a longer period of time than dry skin. It usually ages at a slower pace because of the extra moisture, keeping skin hydrated and less prone to wrinkles.
